W. Bro. Rev. F George Fuller
Past Assistant Grand Chaplain
W. Bro. Fuller joined Abbey Lodge on the 10 February 1938, his Mother Lodge being the Traveller’s Lodge No. 4679 where he was initiated on the 5 February 1932.
As a “Clerk in Holy Orders” he was Vicar of Saint Philip’s in Nelson and later at a church in the Isle of Wight where he was also Chaplain to Queen Elizabeth II whenever she visited Osbourne House on the island. Whilst there he became a member of Albany Lodge No. 151.
W. Bro. Fuller became Worshipful Master of Abbey Lodge in 1944 and during World War II entered the services as an Army Chaplain. He resigned from the Lodge in 1971 when he moved to the Isle of Wight.
He was renowned within the Lodge for his ability to tell stories of his exploits in life and as a rugby union international for Wales, a career which was terminated when he lost a leg through a rugby injury! Whilst there were some doubts as to the total authenticity of some of his stories, they nevertheless added colour and interest to discussions at the festive board’s.
During his Masonic career he was also a member of Marsden Lodge No. 3978, East Lancashire Provincial Grand Officers Lodge No. 3747, Brierfield Lodge No. 7560 and Albany Lodge No. 151.
